ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
People's Resource Center (PRC) is a nonprofit, social service organization founded in 1975 by community members looking to help neighbors who were facing financial hardship. Inspired by social justice heroes like Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day and Jane Addams, founders Dorothy McIntyre, Father Tom Peyton and a group of volunteers sought to do more than start a local food pantry. Our mission statement is: The People’s Resource Center exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of DuPage County, Illinois.
A team of over 2300 volunteers, supported by 46 employees, work together to achieve this mission. PRC offers a wide range of emergency and empowerment services delivered by neighbors, free for all DuPage residents. These programs include: Food Assistance, Clothing, Financial Assistance, Homeless Prevention Services, Job Search Assistance, Adult Basic Education and Literacy, Computer Training and Access, and Art Enrichment.
Last year, these programs helped over 25,000 people gain the tools and resources they need to build stronger futures.
Some of the duties of the role include:
- Lead and oversee the overall fundraising strategy of PRC including annual fund, major gifts, mailed and electronic appeals, planned giving, special events, grants, capital campaigns, etc., through the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development plan, working with the Chief Executive Officer, Development Committee of the Board, and the Advancement team, focusing on raising funds in support of PRC’s budget, using methods keeping with PRC’s mission, vision, values, and brand.
- Identify, plan, organize and implement strategies to cultivate relationships and solicit gifts and in-kind support from individual, corporate, foundation, service/civic, faith groups, and other constituencies that meet PRC’s goals.
- Establish and monitor Advancement Department goals, objectives and budgets; regularly reporting status of fundraising and marketing activities.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive community relationship strategy to meet PRC’s strategic objectives, increase PRC visibility throughout the community and to develop relationships to further its mission and services, soliciting input from leaders across the organization as needed and reflecting PRC’s neighbor-to-neighbor volunteer philosophy.
- Develop and oversee execution of a Marketing Plan to support PRC’s strategic objectives, increase PRC visibility throughout the community and to improve awareness of its mission and services. Track progress toward goals (expenses and volume metrics) and recommend and implement adjustments as necessary.
- Oversee planning and provide coverage as needed for special events (including fundraisers) that achieve PRC’s development and marketing goals. Track progress towards goals and make proactive adjustments as necessary.
- Function as member of Senior Leadership team, ensuring collaboration and a full understanding of the relationship between departments and teams.
- Attend board meetings as required, and committee meetings as assigned, leading conversations where appropriate.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
- 8 years successful fundraising experience required.
- 5 years of experience directly supervising employees required.
- 3 years of experience managing a CRM database required (Raiser’s Edge preferred) including using data for analytics required.
- Experience developing and managing a budget required.
- 5 years marketing or communications experience preferred.
- Experience supervising volunteers preferred.
- CFRE or other advanced degree preferred.

- Highly organized, high attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Enjoys working in a social service nonprofit that has a high reliance on volunteer involvement throughout the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to create strong relationships with donors in a variety of environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaborative teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication and interpersonal relations.
- Able to effectively promote and represent PRC to other organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills among diverse constituent groups.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Able to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers and with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong ability to compile, analyze, and use data in goal setting and decision making.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications and CRM databases (preferably Raiser’s Edge).
- Existing knowledge of the DuPage County community and philanthropic landscape strongly preferred.
